Rika Noyamano (野山野 梨花, Noyamano Rika) is the eldest of the Noyamano sisters. She acts like a typical older sister and takes care of the family. To support her sisters and Itsuki Minami, she works as Destler Bartlett, a female pro-wrestler. During the time when Ikki discovers A-T's, she is out on a national tour with her wrestling promotion. Unknown to Ikki at first, she is the former Thorn Queen of the original Sleeping Forest, which required her to utilizes her hip joints as the base of her moves. The disadvantage of her Sonia Road was that it took quite a toll on her body, making her tire easily. Later on, she'll become Genesis' new Thorn Queen for a while as a brain charger, and acquire the newest version of the original Thorn Regalia - 10.7.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Rika is a 23-24 year old woman with brownish, red hair. She is 172 cm tall. She has a slender, but solid and sexy build. She has very large and round breasts that may be the largest in the series. In the OVA, she is shown to have brown hair and dark eyes.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Rika is very aggressive towards others, even her own family as (due to her wrestling skills) she does not hesitate to attack anyone who gets on her nerves. Even her sisters and Ikki know how terrifying she can be and all make sure to not get on her bad side. Despite this, she is a very caring sister and loves her family and friends very much and often acts as a mother figure to others.
Rika has shown to have romantic feelings for Sora Takeuchi, in the beginning, the two showed romantic feelings for each other and even kissed on more than one occasion. When Kilik kissed her (due to him having a crush on her and knowing what Sora may do to her), they broke up. Even though they broke up and Sora's perverted nature gets on her nerves and she will attack him like any other person, she still deeply cares for him. Whether or not Rika was aware of his betrayal before she was captured or ever knew what he was like is unknown. They did eventually get back together later on and Rika would be revealed to be pregnant, and Sora is the father.
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
She was one of two members of the original Sleeping Forest that was not a Gravity Child, the other being Ine Makigai. Throughout her entire stay in Sleeping Forest and afterward, she was unaware of the significance of the Sky Regalia and the true intentions of Sora Takeuchi. She was initially Sora's girlfriend, though they fell apart after Kilik's betrayal. She also quits using A-T's, and she initially fears that Ikki will suffer the same fate as Sora if he continues to be a Storm Rider, although she is finally convinced of his talent after a strange battle with him and a team consisting of Sora and his dogs. She and Sora talk often afterward and eventually reconnect.
In her youth Rika was displayed as a lone ranger who achieved the right to use the Thorn Regalia in her early teens by herself, even though she was not a Gravity Child. She battled off opposing enemies aiming for her title as the Thorn Queen and aimed to take down all the teams in the area alone. In addition, she found the means to support her large family by herself, though they were bordering poverty. After one of her fights she met Sora, who she christened as the "120 Yen", for the iced coffee he bought her. Sora appeared as one of her fans, and later became her companion and friend. On one occasion, she revealed to Sora that she had caught wind of a group who was reputedly composed of the strongest Kings of the era, and wanted to take them down. Only upon arrival of the of the battlefield did she find out that the team was none other than Sora's Sleeping Forest, and that he was the leader, the man closest to becoming Sky King at that time. Sora extended his offer to include her on the team, and because she desired to remain at Sora's side, she complied.
After joining, Rika was romantically involved with Sora, which became a major cause for Kilik's jealousy. When Kilik declared war on Sora, she was not present for the battle on any of the sides, presumably uninformed by neither Sora nor Kilik, who had only recently confessed to her the previous night. She arrived late to find the battle already over, Kilik the winning party, Sora and his supporters beaten and robbed of their Regalia. Sora, grievously injured by the battle in both legs, lost hope and broke up with Rika , leaving her the Sleeping Forest emblem, which she passed down to her sister, Ringo Noyamano, later.
Afraid of a repeat of the same incident, present-day Rika attempted to stop Ikki from going down the same road as Sora, who she had already recognized to bear many similar traits to Sora. This is further encouraged by Ikki's climbing of Tokyo Tower when he was a child, which resulted in him falling off and getting carried away by the eight-winged crow. Having already seen the signs in Ikki, she often approached Sora to talk about him, in fact Sora had commented before that she only ever came to look for him to talk about Ikki since the day they parted. Rika tries to stop Ikki from using A-T's by challenging him in a match, but is defeated when Ikki exceeds her expectations. She then recognizes Ikki's strength, and supports his goal from that day on, though she still takes care to limit Ikki by locking his body with Heavy weights, which Ikki grows accustomed to quickly.
Rika has sworn off A-T's, though she still retains her skills from that of her prime. She does not play a role in the current power struggle in the A-T world, though she is shown to be aware of it. Some evidence are that she guessed Canon's motives in aggravating Ringo and Ikki into a fight, and that she advised Ringo to make up her mind about Ikki, who would surely become an enemy to Sleeping Forest in the future. However, there are no signs that she knows about Sora retaking his place as Wind King and making use of Ikki. Whether this is because Sora is keeping this from her or if she does not want to talk about it is unknown.
Just before the battle against Genesis, Sora reveals a captive Rika and tries to force the current Sleeping Forest to give up their advantage in the "forest"; that is to say, to not hold their battle inside the Tropaion Tower's descending chamber. Kogarasumaru heads to the aircraft carrier on which she is held in an attempt to rescue her. It is eventually revealed that the true reason Rika was brought to the ship was to be brainwashed and take up Genesis's side as the Thorn Queen. She is converted into a brain charger and (it is implied) her original personality overwritten. Doctor Minami comments that she seems to possess the same "Virgin Blade" power that Lind possesses.
By Chapter 330, she has been seen using the enhanced power given to her by the newly-built 10.7 Thorn Regalia, revealing it in the form of a bow which can shoot a very long and powerful sonic-boom without it taking a toll on her hips as she only need to bend the bow to do it. She used it on Onibasu disguised as Kilik and was held captured after he entangled her body with his straps making her immobile.
After Ikki accidentally activated the self-destruct sequence in her Regalia, the machine that turned her into a Braincharger was destroyed by Ringo using the Storm Regalia.
At the end of the manga, she is seen on the plane with her mother on a plane discussing Ikki's future.
Abilities and A·T[edit | edit source]
Rika, being the former Thorn Queen, was known to be a very skilled and merciless rider. As rider of the Sonia Road she has shown great flexibility, nimbleness, and maneuverability. In her battle with Ikki she claims that if she were on A-T's Ikki would be laying in a pool of his own blood. Recently, she has gained the abilities of a Brain Charger through the brainwashing that was used upon her. Her skills have dramatically improved as seen when she keeps up with Ringo.
Her new regalia, the Thorn Regalia Version 10.7 made by Dr. Minami, is in a shape of a bow which allows it to fire sonicbooms without dealing recoil on her for she only needs to pull the string of the bow.
Tricks[edit | edit source]
Thorns: Rika twirls her body in midair and a swarm of thorns fling at the opponent(s) like a whip. This move was done in the 2nd OVA and in the manga from the Inorganic Net battle. In the manga, however, it shows Rika kicking instead of spinning.
Thorn arrow: Rika is able to release a sonicboom arrow by pulling the drawstring of her regalia bow. The arrow is able to easily pierce a person.
Sora x Rika GOD CRUSHER"Gungnir": While Rika adding her thorns and Sora his wind while pulling the string. Rika and Sora create a new combo of wind and thorn.
Ultimate Thorn Battle Form: This form is the most powerful form.
Wrestling[edit | edit source]
Rika is apparently a very capable wrestler, having became the UWWF middle-weight wrestling champion and still at the age of 22. Her fighting style was elaborated in the anime episode 13, where she was seen confronting her opponent (a heavyset dark-skinned woman probably beyond her weight division) while energetically jumping up and down to warm herself up.
